Dr. K is on Medical Leave
Dear Sprout families,
I’m having long-awaited surgery on Monday, 12/15, and I will be unavailable from Sunday, 12/14 through early January. I hope to start doing urgent & time-sensitive telemedicine visits in early January, then gradually return to the office.
While I’m out, this page can help you figure out what to do if you have a sick kiddo. It explains what kinds of problems need the ER, are fine to be checked at an urgent care, or if home care and observation are enough. It can also help you figure out what can or should wait for me to get back. If you need anything else, Lilay and Jackie will be checking Spruce and portal messages during office hours. They can get you information and have access to a pediatrician friend of mine for help with non-urgent decisions.
You can schedule some non-urgent visits for February and March in the portal, such as big kid and teen well checks, sports physicals, and medication checks. Jackie is controlling the January schedule until we know when I’ll be back, and has a list of kids who will need appointments in January, February and March. Tell her what you need in a portal message to be added to her list.
I appreciate your support and patience as I recover. We value the trust you place in us, and we’ve worked hard to leave you in good hands. I’m sure there are things I haven’t anticipated, but I have great confidence in Jackie, Lilay, our systems, and the people we have backing us up. I also have pretty awesome patients.
Please ask Lilay and Jackie your questions. Our goal is to make this interruption as smooth as possible for you and your family.
Thanks for being part of Sprout!
~Dr. K
